Introduction

2012 was a year for serious decision making.
For horse owners, the hay market took a change for the worse, driving many of us small breeders to rethink our plan.
After over 30yrs we chose to downsize our herd to just two mares and two stallions. It was not only the market and the rising cost of hay and other feeds that made this choice for us; it was also the fact, that we were not getting any younger and the work is not getting any easier.

Several years back, in 1994 we purchased a 99% Gray Wolf hybrid male-Kodiak and 2 yrs later, he bred our AKC German Shepherd Gypsy. We found that there was a strong market for wolf hybrids; and soon we were in the business of raising wolf hybrids along with horses. Along with our horse herd, our hybrid pack grew. When the market for horses began its downward spiral, the hybrids kept us afloat.

In 2013, we decided to concentrate more on that side of the business. We will continue to breed our mares occasionally to keep the lines alive, and offer our two stallions for stud. We will not be doing any training; but may still offer occasional lessons to young people who are interest in pleasure riding. Most of our efforts will go to the breeding and selling of our hybrid wolves.

We are currently updating our website firewaterhorseranch.com, to have two pages devoted to Wolf Hybrids, a page reflecting what we have forsale and another designated to images of our dogs we own and some that we have sold.

These pages will be updated on a more regular schedule with pictures of current litter individual pups, sires and dams.  hope you will visit often and we would love to hear your thoughts; feel free to post any comments, questions or ideas.

We'll be waiting to hear from you
On the Thoughts and Comments Page.
